ORINDA CITY COUNCIL 2018
WHY I'M RUNNING
Over my past four years on the Council, my goal has been to represent the broader Orinda community in key City matters, whether in complete agreement with my Council colleagues or by taking an independent stand. I have worked to ensure all Orinda voices are included in our discussions - including during the recent Streetscape efforts by pushing on our consultants to ensure they would meet the needs of all residents, not just targeted groups.
At the same time, I have strongly encouraged downtown economic improvements such as bringing new shops and restaurants to the planned 25A Orinda Way building (in the vacant lot across from the Community Center) and supporting the Thursday night food trucks.
If re-elected, I will continue to drive good governance for the City. During my term as Mayor in 2017, I was proud to ensure the Miner Road sinkhole was fixed in a comparatively fast six months in conjunction with the diligent work of our staff. Looking forward, our current City Manager’s contract is up next summer and selecting the right individual - as I believe we did with Mr. Salomon - is one of the most important decisions a Council can make. I will bring my Council and private-sector experience as a technology executive to any and all upcoming decisions.
Our community deserves a thoughtful, transparent Council that addresses community issues while maintaining the high quality of life we are fortunate to enjoy in Orinda. Thank you for considering me for that role on your Council!
